Maozhou River is the largest river in Shenzhen, with a drainage area of 398.13 square kilometers, of which 310.85 square kilometers are in Shenzhen. Due to the influence of factors such as the long-term explosive growth of economy and population, the lagging of environmental protection facilities, and the lack of environmental management awareness, the pollution load of Maozhou River far exceeds the environmental carrying capacity. The water quality of the entire basin has been inferior to Class V for a long time, and the ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus even exceed the Class V standard by ten times, making it the most polluted river in the Pearl River Delta. During the remediation process, our company was responsible for providing the pipes required for the project. Through the remediation, the comprehensive pollution index of Maozhou River decreased by 78.5%, and the concentrations of the main pollution indicators, chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, and total phosphorus, decreased by 54%, 84.9% and 81.9% respectively. From January to October 2020, the water quality of the Gonghe Village section of Maozhou River reached Class IV, and the inferior Class V was eliminated in stages, reaching the national assessment target, and the water condition improved significantly.
